Creating educational content and working with experts in their field is a joy!
As a content delivery manager, I get to combine the subject knowledge of professionals with my understanding of learning and assessment design, editorial expertise and strategic project management so that together, we produce outstanding educational content that opens the door to learning and supports students to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

A core part of the role is interviewing, training and mentoring teacher-authors and tutors to deliver content to the high standards alongside a consistent branding approach.
This involves designing extensive onboarding procedures and resources including video tutorials, author & style guides, best practice presentations and templates to really help shape their understanding of our vision and purpose for content.
To ensure quality is continually maintained, I also introduced performance rubrics and conducted reviews with clear targets to drive excellence.
Feedback from tutor authors on this process, the level of support and communication I delivered, was regularly reflected in NPS and Review surveys.
'Robin's feedback has been so comprehensive and has really helped me to produce my best work for EdPlace!' - Jess, KS3 Science Physics
'The communication from Robin at every step of the process has been friendly and professional. I knew exactly where I stood with the quality of my work and what we were trying to achieve so I could maximise my work time.' - Michael, GCSE Maths
'The onboarding resources were so helpful! They gave me a really clear picture of what the expectation was and I was able to pinch lots of ideas for best practice to get me started.' - Becky, KS3 & GCSE English
A key aspect of my role involves leveraging data to inform decisions and improve outcomes. I developed quality tracking metrics and dashboards to monitor ongoing author performance. I also worked with our data science team to generate usage reports for our content to help identify the areas in need to review or editing.
The experts I work with naturally know more than me about their subject. That's why we employ them after all!
My role is to combine their expertise with my knowledge of high quality learning and assessment design, along with the vision for the company, so outcomes can really shine! Feeding back critically to someone who has more knowledge of their subject and is passionate about it is a skill and the key to strong collaboration.
Following years as a teacher, assessment lead and moderator, I have a very keen eye for detail and work hard to build collaborative relationships with my teacher-authors built on mutual respect where honesty and clarity are at the fore of every conversation and the quality of the content is at the heart of every decision. We are a partnership and I want them to feel a part of the company and the mission, not just a short term helper.
I like to model and re-write content to help people understand the expectations and see the vision in another way. I explain the thinking behind my feedback so authors can make stronger links with the overall approach which is when they really start to fly.
I have led on the design and creation of over 350 KS3 tuition resources for English, maths, and science, collaborating with teachers to create lesson plans and supporting slides for delivery in lessons that aligned with our brand and linked to our online content. This became a company priority very suddenly due to a pivot in the market focus and all resources were mapped, planned, created, edited and ready to go live in just 3 months.
On top of these tuition resources, I have managed the delivery of over 3000 learning activities and assessments during my time with EdPlace. This involved continual critical analysis and editing to maintain consistency and quality.
As a further measure of quality, I was also responsible for actioning feedback from our customers through our Feedback Portal if issues had been identified with legacy content still on the platform to edit it and bring it up to speed, or retire it altogether.
Good project management is the art of turning goals into reality through meticulous planning. This has been central to my success as a content delivery manager.
I coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously, working with both internal teams and external professionals. I like to scope projects in detail, creating timelines, milestones, deliverables, dependencies and budgets while working across departments—including marketing, app development, data science and product—to drive projects to completion.
I utilise tools like Notion to streamline workflows, document processes and track project progress. Having all the information and a clear understanding of the bigger picture means I can make the most impactful decisions. My ability to pivot quickly to address changing priorities ensures we can remain agile as an organisation and responsive to market demands.
As mentioned, I have successfully delivered various content projects on time and to budget whilst also leading on numerous research & development projects internally to drive innovation and ensure we remain a market leader.
One of the most exciting things about working in the EdTech space is the limitless innovation potential.
I've recently been spearheading innovative research and development projects, exploring the integration of AI into our products to enhance the learning provision and, where possible, reduce costs and lead times.
I collaborated closely with a data science team and a group of teachers to help create an AI Recommender that analysed student performances and directed them to the next most logical learning experience, building on their knowledge and creating a personalised learning journey. This also involved working with The Brilliant Club, an external organisation who tested our approach robustly to measure it's impact. The Recommender was a finalist in the Bett awards 2025.
This work extended into developing our own AI marking system that would integrate into the product and mark the more complex questions that could not be automated by the existing system. I created experiments to systematically test and improve prompts and outcomes to see how accurately we could mark and how close this could come to real human feedback. Developing a two way system of assessment and feedback meant we were genuinely creating a learning environment that replicated having a teacher sat with you rather than just testing knowledge with opportunity to grow and improve that knowledge.
A natural progression was also to begin exploring how AI could be used to create content. This had significant ramifications for costs and timings but also ethical considerations to ensure we maintained the balance of human and AI collaboration.
I also worked with SEO optimisation article creators who were generating educational content articles for our website using AI. My role was to proofread and edit for educational validity and company style and feedback to refine the prompts.
